One of my "jobs" as an appraiser is to continually monitor the prices set on antique quilts. I do this by visiting antique quilt websites, visiting antique venders at quilt shows and visiting local antique stores. One day while walking through an antique mall in Ozark, Missouri, I found this doll buggy. It is just like the one that I had while growing up in the 1950s. Yes, I bought it immediately and is now holds my old dolls.

I teach a class on fancy Victorian purses. These are some of the samples I have made for this class. They have beads, laces, buttons and lots of silk ribbon embroidery. Students learn to design their own purses making each one unique and special.

I purchased this quilt in Paducah, Kentucky. The pattern is called "Ozark Cobblestones." The quilt is dated circa 1890. It contains a good variety of period fabrics from the last quarter of the 19th century. The earliest fabric in the quilt is from the 1840s. The edges of the quilt (shown on the left) follows the shapes of the hexagons and has a 1/4" red binding. I use this quilt and others in my lecture/trunk show called, "Quilts with Great Edges."

This quilt design is called "Mohawk Trail." It was a pattern published during the Depression Era. The quilt has a good variety of feed sack fabrics from the 30s. The edge is called a "cone" or "ice cream cone" edge. The quilt has feathers in the white areas.

Here's another nice fan quilt from the Depression era. The pattern is called "Chinese Fans." Notice the unusual scalloped edge on this quilt. The straight edge across the top goes at the top of the bed. When a vintage or antique quilt is unique or has something unusual, the value is increased.

I enjoy adding dimensional flowers, embroidery and beads to my applique projects. This is a pattern I have designed and teach as a class. It is called "Puttin' On the Ritz."

I needed a quilt table runner last Christmas. I found pre-quilted white fabric and quickly machine appliqued this design. Jumbo rickrack was inserted in the binding to give it a unique edge. I teach this in my workshop on edge treatments.
